After the Goblin Wars that almost outed the elves, fae, and other non-human races, Keelie Heartwood is ready to escape the drama and hang out with Dad. A new Renaissance Faire in the North Georgia Mountains sounds perfect for checking out hunky jousters instead of memorizing more elven lore.

When the faire's manager, the draconic Finch, offers Keelie the chance to be Queen of the Faire, it sounds like the perfect job. Or is it? Strange disappearances and a sense of pending evil casts shadows over the medieval fun, and it's up to Keelie and her unique blend of magic to discover the truth.

This book's a mess. And that's a real shame, because the basic story is decent enough and the first two trilogies of "The Faire Folk Saga" were quite good -- I see that my LibraryThing ratings of the first six books overall average out to 3.83***, which is quite good.

This latest volume, unfortunately, suffers from dismal editing. Every few pages shows at least one obvious proofreading failure, and often more, from omitted words to confusing omission of opening or closing quotation marks to misspellings (such as the confusion of the adverb too with the preposition to, along with one of my pet peeves, the confusion of the words libel and liable). It's as if the authors performed a hasty spell-check in their word processing software but never bothered to look for the glitches that computerized spell-checking cannot catch.

And then, there are the actual plot inconsistencies, by way of example, Keelie's telling her father (pages 190-91 of the print edition) that her tablet computer with the Elven Compendium has been stolen, but a later moment (page 204) when Keelie thinks to herself that she has to find the tablet before her father learns that it is missing!

I have no idea what happened to cause this marked degeneration in quality in this seventh volume of "The Faire Folk Saga," but I do see that there has been a change of publishers. I have no way of knowing the reason for the change - whether the decision was the authors' or the prior publisher's or mutual - but the current volume suffers woefully from poor editing and proofreading; and the appearance of the printed text, including the awkward line spacing, gives the impression of a Microsoft Word document that was hastily converted to print, possibly even self-published (though I do not know enough about the book's new publisher to determine whether this is a self-publishing firm or whether it is simply a firm that employs incompetent editors and proofreaders).

I'll probably read the next installment, but only because I've come this far in the series. If the authors fail to improve on the editing and proofreading in the next volume, though, they deserve to lose their so-far loyal readership.

Queen of the Faire The Faire Folk Saga Book 7 edition by Gillian Summers Children eBooks Reviews

I love all the Keelie books. I hope this is not the end. Kelie is really coming into her own and this was such a fun book
The typos in the ebook were so prolific as to be distracting. Some sentences were missing words! The editing was terrible, but the book was O.K. Not sure I will read the next one.
so very happy there is one more book!!! Just starting to read it and already wish they write more in this saga. It may say for young adults but the 50-80 age crowd could'nt get enough of this series either.
Loved the series, but this book is a tremendous failure due to horrible editing and situational failure.... like the author forgot what and where she was in the story... even forgetting who did what. Would love to have my money back on this one. Sad thing is, this COULD have been a really good book, as the basic ideas and basic story line was quite good, however ruined by the inconsistencies in the story and the poor editing.
What an ending to an amazing set of books!!! Love to read Gillian Summers books. Loved the fact that she was raised by gypsies.
Really enjoy these books, but the editing was a bit of a mess. I know the story continuation is in high demand...I know I was anxiously waiting, but they needed to take another few weeks and another set of editing eyes before they released it. Other than that, it's a great story, though a little rushed at times. Our household loves Keelie and her adventures and it's a series that I hope continues for a long time. Keelie growing into a woman could open up a whole new adult level and 'oh what fun' that could be with intriguing characters like Herne, Sean, and the Fey King.
It pains me to know that I in fact only recently read the latest Gillian Summers book in my beloved Faire Folk Saga. It was released back in August 2014 but that year had many new things in store for me that I could never find the time to get to Queen of the Faire. That said, I promise that there was never a time I wasn't fully thinking about Queen of the Faire. I was always fully aware of it and how much I wanted to read it.

Thankfully I have, finally! And am I glad I have continued to read Gillian Summers. This following line was worth it all but OK so was the rest of the book. Go, Gillian Summers!

"Don't you think you were being too charming?" Keelie asked.

"I was being nice". Dad grinned, and then he laughed. "I'll be more subdued and somber like Elianard".

Keelie made a face. "As if you could".-Page 330 of 377 on my Fire 7 ( e-reading)

Reuniting into the newest troubles Keelie faces as the chosen handler of a magical Compendium at an equally magical Renaissance faire was glorious. Even as I struggled to get into the habit of reading (hello reading rut) I am glad Gillian Summers can ease that transition in me. Reading as I was, it was intriguing to see Keelie handle an unexpected job and a possible new romance with a human for the very first time after a tough breakup with her old boyfriend who some of you may know as Sean O' the Woods. But then again good thing because I always thought the guy was too arrogant for his own good and I hate arrogance.

And yeah, I did notice some of the grammar errors to which I usually cringe. But you know, whatever. This is Gillian Summers a writing duo that cannot be replicated and that is why the grammatical errors all but disappeared as I read. My thoughts? Incredible read. Yet again, go Gillian Summers.
Overall Amazing read!
